What email marketing can achieve
Email verification is growing in popularity among British businesses as many companies depend on email marketing for their growth.
This is because email marketing has long been an important driver of leads and sales in the business, education, and public sectors.
The return on investment produced by email outreach is significantly higher than any other form of marketing.
But email deliverability is key.
5 reasons you should invest in our email verification service
1. In your customer database, up to 1% of all client data, including email addresses, will be incorrectly entered.
2. Up to 8% of contact forms on websites that people fill out are entered incorrectly. Many companies retain this data but never get around to correcting it.
3. B2B email databases , school email address lists, and public sector email addresses are easy to come by and cost very little.
Unfortunately, many of these databases have been stolen from employers of those selling them, so you do not own them. Further, because marketing data decays at a rate of 22.5% a year, most of it might be useless by the time you acquire it.
4. Some of the businesses and organizations on these databases will no longer exist.
These now-invalid emails are often purchased by ISPs and organisations so they can reuse them as spam traps. When unsuspecting companies send emails to invalid email addresses, they are usually sent to a spam folder. Sender reputation is important, and “spamming” (as your email provider would define it) is against their terms and conditions.
5. Lastly, there is GDPR. Before May 2018, it was legal to send cold email to sole traders and partners within unincorporated partnerships without permission. Now it isn’t. If your databases pre-date May 2018, you have to make sure the companies and organisations on them are corporate bodies, not individuals, even if they are sole traders or partners.
Our GDPR policy is available to view online.
How to use our email appending service

- send us your customer email list,
- contact us if you have a prospect database of businesses, schools, and public sector organisations that haven’t purchased from you yet, or
- send us any marketing databases you have purchased from 3rd parties that you still own or have permission to use.
We will compare each with the over 650,000 direct decision-maker email addresses we have in our database.
We will indicate each valid email address we have verified. Whenever we find a different record than the one you have, we will let you know without deleting your original.
If it’s not in our database, it’s probably not a limited company, school, or public sector organisation. We’ll flag that record to alert you that it could be a sole trader, a partnership, or a spam trap.
As part of email validation, we’ll tell you which emails are safer to send to and which ones we wouldn’t recommend.
Additional options
Contact us if your databases are missing email addresses and you’d like us to match a record to our database. You will probably end up with more email addresses than before.
Reverse email verification is also available. If you have only an email address and a URL, send them to us to compare with what we have on our database.
What is email address verification?
We verify email addresses by checking:

- That the companies and organisations represented on your database are limited companies or corporate bodies, so they are compliant with GDPR, and
- That there have been no recent changes to the web address or email servers, indicating they have been purchased by an ISP or spam trapper.
No bulk verification system is perfect.
But ours provides you with the assurance that email addresses which we flag as valid can be contacted safely.
How email verification works
Our email validation service ensures the email addresses on your databases are correct by running them through two separate processes.
We hold over 650,000 direct email addresses for decision makers within businesses, schools, and government. To verify that we have the same email address, we match your data against ours.
If the email account we have is different, we let you know. This is especially useful for large companies or organisations with generic or “catch-all” email addresses.
It is unlikely that a colleague will forward emails onto a decision maker.
If you’d like us to populate your database records with email addresses, let your account manager know when you speak with them.
Why is email verification important?
Any email marketing campaign’s success is directly related to the accuracy of the data used.
Making sure your data is fit for purpose is just as important as investing in email marketing data.
