In the way a school is funded primarily on the basis of the number of students it teaches, GPs are funded primarily depending on the number of patients registered with them and the number of patients receiving treatment from them.

Most GP surgeries are like small-to-medium-sized companies – they have a business structure, managing partners, staff, and so on. Unlike the majority of small-to-medium-sized companies however, they only have one customer – NHS England from which they receive their funding based on register size and their performance under the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF).

They will often receive extra income:

  • from their Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) – CCGs are legally responsible for ensuring the provision of general practice in their local area and
  • to cover their rent if they lease the premises they operate from.

Practice managers are, in effect, business managers responsible for front office operation, staffing, and recordkeeping. Their role requires IT skills, the ability to strategically plan, manage finance, operate payroll, and oversee personnel administration.

They will often be responsible for the purchasing of all equipment, drugs, supplies and stationery and ensure best value is obtained reporting to the senior partners within the practice.

Purchasing responsibility for most items rests with the practice manager although, on larger and non-standard purposes, s/he will liaise with the partners.

There are four ways to generate leads and make sales from our list of practice managers email addresses. They are:

  • database-only option – where you and your company are responsible for using the data on the list to contact GP surgeries and practice managers
  • managed email marketing campaigns – we create an email marketing campaign for you and send it three times to practice managers on your behalf (the database is also supplied)
  • managed telemarketing campaigns – we carry out a minimum of 45 hours’ worth of calling to GP surgeries and practice managers on your behalf (the database is also supplied)
  • managed email and telemarketing campaigns – we send three email campaigns to GP surgeries and practice managers on your behalf followed by 15 hours’ worth of telemarketing after each email campaign (the database is also supplied)

If you can help GP surgeries save money on what they currently spend or you can show them a way to make their practices more efficient, now is an opportune time to share that information with them.
